OUR THINKING

Innovation _WHY

Status-quo unsustainable

The global financial crisis, set in the context of rapid shifts in global economic power, has reminded many CEOs just how vulnerable their organisations have become in the pursuit of exploiting their existing sources of value.

Innovation has therefore become a priority, but few leaders have a clear understanding of how to make it a capability that delivers real returns.

In the new hyper volatile world, the typical ways in which organisations attempt to stimulate and sustain innovation are inadequate and often stall the process.

For it to yield return, innovation has to be embraced at a holistic system level, with leaders enabling mindset and behavior change amongst employees as well as leading their own culture shifts and finding the right processes, infrastructure and resources.

Innovation _WHAT

Innovation for All

For innovation to be a source of competitive advantage, it has to be part of an organisation's culture, not confined to an isolated creative elite or a process driven production line.

Innovation is the marriage of creativity and pragmatism - a fusion of capability (rational skills, knowledge and resources) and capacity (perception, imagination and relationships).

Many organisations are locked into a cycle of short-term focus and rational capability building - a performance state we call 'now', dominated by expedient thought and action. Innovation is hard, if not impossible to muster when 'now' prevails.

To build powerful organisations, capable of enduring success, leaders need to build a new paradigm, 'Fusion', which equally values and embraces capacity and capability, creating Adaptive Performance.

Fusion combines the best of the organisation's rational and emotional dimensions, holding an optimal balance between the needs of today and the future. It blends pragmatic and moral concerns, remaining alert to the
environment while keeping this understanding poised with its own needs.

We design and deliver a wide range of leadership and culture change programmes that result in building innovation as a strategic organisational capability.

Innovation _HOW

You are what you value

Over three decades, we've been fortunate to work with some of the world's most innovative companies, government organisations and NGOs.

We've learnt what does and doesn't work across a wide of cultures and industries, and we have a profoundly held set of views about how innovation functions in the emerging global marketplace.

We design and deliver programmes that are rounded and deal in the reality of culture change and the implications on leadership accountability. We believe that innovation must start with leaders - since what leaders value, is what gets done.
